Lloyd Berger is named one of the South Florida Business Journal Heavy Hitters in Commercial Real Estate

The team at Berger Commercial Real Estate congratulates Lloyd Berger on being selected one of the South Florida Business Journal Heavy Hitters in Commercial Real Estate! We all know Lloyd is the consummate real estate professional and we’re thrilled to see his 2010 accomplishments acknowledged by the media.

It’s been a few daunting years in the commercial real estate market, but with Lloyd’s vision and leadership we’ve managed to overcome the challenges of a depressed economy and find opportunities for growth even in a down market.  One of Lloyd’s greatest accomplishments in 2010 was not laying off a single person. Instead, he was able to add six more people to the staff of Berger Commercial Realty and Berger Special Assets, bringing the total number of team members to 40. The firm completed more than 40 transactions, compared to two in 2009, and had more than 50 receiverships, including Plaza Fifth in St. Petersburg, Fla., which, with Lloyd serving as receiver, completed construction and reached 80 percent occupancy in one year.

It’s no wonder that Berger Commercial Realty Corp. has grown since 1998 into one of the largest privately owned, full-service commercial real estate firms in South Florida, with Lloyd at the helm. Our team provides brokerage and transaction services in addition to property management assignments for commercial and multifamily institutional and non-institutional owners.  We also provide agency/project leasing, capital advisory/investment sales, construction/project management, and retail services.

We were ranked  the ninth largest commercial property management firm and the 22nd largest commercial real estate brokerage in South Florida by the South Florida Business Journal in 2010.

What’s more, Lloyd has served as receiver for more than 150 properties throughout the state of Florida, filling the need for strategic property services during trying times on behalf of lenders and financial institutions. He established a dedicated division, Berger Special Assets, to serve as receiver and enhance the value of distressed properties with expert management, leasing and sales representation.

What are Lloyd’s goals for the coming year?  Now that the Berger Special Assets division has achieved sustainability and is poised to grow with at least 40 new receiverships in the pipeline, he is redirecting his focus to his core business of leasing and property management with a goal of building and continuing relationships with long-term clients. With several significant transactions already under contract in the first quarter, Berger Commercial Realty Corp. is off to a strong start in 2011.

Congratulations, Lloyd! The team at Berger Commercial Realty Corp. is looking forward to a great year!
